History of the Agency
The Krabi Highway District (currently the Krabi Highway District) was established in 1950. As regional operations received increased funding for road construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation, several new main roads were constructed. The existing highway districts could not adequately oversee the construction, as each district already had its own manageable road network.
Therefore, to ensure the smooth operation of the construction projects, the Krabi Highway District was established. Therefore, eight additional highway districts were appointed, namely:
1. Ayutthaya Highway District
2. Suphan Buri Highway District
3. Nakhon Si Thammarat Highway District
4. Krabi Highway District
5. Khuan Niang Highway District (Currently Phatthalung Highway District)
6. Chaiyaphum Highway District
7. Buriram Highway District
8. Surin Highway District
Together with the existing 35 highway districts, there are now 43 highway districts and 71 provincial highway districts under the control of 8 highway numbers. The Krabi Highway District (currently the Krabi Highway District) officially opened on April 1, 1951, with Mr. Sornsri Kaewkamsano as the first district engineer (1951-1952). Currently, Mr. Songrit Chayanant is the director of the Krabi Highway District (2024-present). The district occupies an area of ​​17 rai, 1 ngan, and 94 square wa.

Highway Maintenance Sections under Responsibility:
There are 6 highway maintenance sections as follows:
1. Ao Luek Highway Maintenance Section (currently Ao Nang Highway Maintenance Section)
2. Krabi Senior Highway Maintenance Section
3. Khao Phanom Highway Maintenance Section
4. Khlong Thom Highway Maintenance Section
5. Plai Phraya Highway Maintenance Section (currently Huai Nam Khao Highway Maintenance Section)
6. Sai Khao Highway Maintenance Section

Upgrading Highway Sections under the Highway District to Senior Highway Sections
According to the resolution of the Ministry of Transport's Personnel Committee Meeting No. 2/2023 on August 21, 2023, the Department of Highways approved the restructuring of internal organizational units within highway districts whose directors hold senior management positions. This involved upgrading 30 highway sections to senior highway sections, one level below the equivalent of a division. The Krabi Highway Section is one of these, and its name was changed to the Krabi Senior Highway Section as determined by the Department on September 1, 2023.
